Lethal Luau

The year was 1996 and it was a sunset luau on a Hawaiian beach to celebrated Chase Diamond's 33rd birthday.  Chase, a private eye with his own Maui-based detective agency, was a man willing to take big risks to get results for his clients.  Diamond also had a reputation for romancing too many ladies at the same time.  Chase, in a celebrating mood, raised his glass to toast the friends who had gathered for his party.  He took one swallow and immediately fell to the ground . . . stone cold dead.  It was not just a case of Chase having had one-too-many drinks . . . his Mai Tai had been spiked with deadly poison.  It is a clear case of murder and you are one of the suspects.

The suspects are:

Nadia Seymour -  A sexy swimsuit model who has just finished a photo shoot and is vacationing in Maui before returning to the fashion runways of New York.  Nadia met Chase at a local nightclub.  This femme fatale of the fashion world really shows her true colours when Chase tries to break off their relationship.  Tsk, tsk, a woman scorned . . .
Costume Suggestion:  Two-piece bikini, beach cover-up, dark sunglasses, tanning oil, beach towel and romance novel.

Joey Breakers - Known as 'Bo-Jo', this bodacious surfer dude is seeking the ultimate wave.  Joey learned his surfing skills while growing up in California, then moved to Hawaii.  Joey does odd jobs for his old college buddy, Chase.  Surveillance, illegal entries, wire taps . . . he does all the dirty work and Chase gets all the glory.  "Hey dudes, . . . no problem!"
Costume Suggestion:  Faded beach shorts, T-shirt, designer shades, coloured sunscreen on nose.  Surf board is optional.

Holly Day - A wealthy socialite sailing the South Seas in her seventy foot yacht.  Her billionaire hubby is a jealous, possessive man who has already divorced three unfaithful wives.  Rumour has it Holly has been busy checking out the men of Hawaii.  This has to be just a silly rumour though, because if it were true, Holly could lose her wonderful life of leisure.
Costume Suggestion:  Holly is meticulous about her appearance.  Even in casual summer wear, she looks elegant and wealthy.

Chief Honikaua Wiki-Wiki - (Pronounced HO-nee kow-ah  wi-KEE-wi-KEE - loosely translated means 'kiss me quick').  This fearsome-looking tribal chief is really a teddy bear underneath his gruff exterior.  Chief Wiki-Wiki is a direct descendent of a royal Polynesian family.  He believes in ancient customs and tribal justice . . . an eye for an eye . . . that sort of thing.
Costume Suggestion:  Traditional Polynesian ceremonial costume, including head-dress, feathers and face paint.

Leilani - This sweet, innocent-looking Hawaiian hula dancer is a popular entertainer at Island resort hotels with a repertoire of graceful hula dances that tell mythical stories through symbolic movements.  She has created a special dance for Chase in honour of his birthday, but what tale is she telling with her violent gestures?
Costume Suggestion:  Traditional grass skirt, bikini top, flower lei's, anklets and bare feet.

Le Baggs - A camera-totting, befuddled and bumbling tourist.  Les is determined to see and do everything on his holiday.  Unfortunately, his natural clumsiness has resulted in a series of mishaps for unlucky Les.  He landed at the wrong airport, lost his luggage and has injured his foot.  Les hired Chase to help him find his stolen goods.  He claims they held great sentimental value . . . and a few secrets.
Costume Suggestion:  Bright, colourful Hawaiian shirt, mis-matched shorts, at least two cameras, maps, tourist guides, beat-up straw hat and a bandage on his foot.

Extras guests include: (non suspects)

Birdie Putt - On tour in the U.S. pro golfing circuit, Birdie played a lousy round today.  She decided to take a long walk along the beach tonight to ease her frustration.  During her walk, she comes upon the murder scene moments after Chase's death.  Birdie, a medical student before she embarked on her golfing career, stops to render assistance.
Costume Suggestion:  Golf shirt, shorts, cap, pocket full of golf balls, putter and today's score card.

Rip Tide - Rip is a scuba diving instructor.  His boat broke down off-shore this evening and he swam to the beach in his scuba gear.  He just happened to surface and walk from the ocean onto the crime scene moments after Chase Diamond's murder occurred.  Rip offers to stay and give a witness statement to the police.
Costume Suggestion:  Wet suit or swimming trunks, snorkel and fins.  Scuba gear optional.
