back to Murder Mysteries Roaring 20's London Dining Car 6 - 8 Players A First Class Murder
It's 1925 and for those who can afford to live a little, the good times have never been better. The sound of jazz is in the air, Wall Street has yet to crash and the champagne is flowing like ... well, like champagne. A small group of committed party-goers is on its way for a weekend at the races at Oldmarket. A couple of hours out from London, however, the train runs into a snow-drift. You might well be stuck here all night. Even more concerning is the fact that when you gather in the dining-car for a spot of dinner, Tim O'Shatner - one of your company - is missing. He is subsequently found in his sleeping compartment. He is dead. One of you is a murderer. Your task is to identify that person. Or, of course, to evade detection. Luckily, you have the benefit of Flapper McClue, the celebrated amateur detective, on board to assist you in your investigations. The suspects are: Arthur 'Fiddler' Farquhar - You're the cousin of the murdered man. You arrived from Scotland only yesterday on your first visit to London and seem a little out of your depth in this society. Costume Suggestion - Tartan everything, orange wig under a Tam O'Shanter cap. Bertie Rooster - You were the best friend of the murdered man and, like him, a carefree bachelor-about-town. Costume Suggestion - Evening attire - but with an ostentatious addition in the form of a highly decorative waistcoat or vivid cummerbund. Penelope Pitt-Pony - You are the brightest of London's Bright Young Things, the original 'It Girl'. You are also engaged to Bertie Rooster. Costume Suggestion - Straight skirt, fitted jacket, silver skullcap and deco jewellery. May Vest - You're a visiting American writer. Fantastically wealthy, you're renowned for your colourful private life and your biting wit. Costume Suggestion - Flowing velvet clothes in deep rich colours, adorned with flamboyant scarves. Small note pad and pencil optional. Sister Wendy Miller - Formerly a familiar figure in London society, you suddenly withdrew to a nunnery last year. Much to the surprise of your former friends, you have recently taken Holy Orders. Costume Suggestion - A nun's habit - or at least a plain grey or black dress topped with a wimple. Rosary and bible are optional. Mustapha M'Stach - Beyond the fact that you are from the Middle East and that you are in some vague way connected to racing, no one knows anything about you. And being a man of mystery at a time of murder is a very suspicious thing. Costume Suggestion - Either a full kaftan and a Fez or a dark overcoat with an Astrakhan collar. Extra guests include: (non-suspects) Paddy O'Lay - You're a professional gambler with a reputation for knowing everything that's happening in the world of racing. No major meeting is complete without your presence. Costume Suggestion - A tweed suit in a brown dogtooth check, an unnecessarily loud tie and a Trilby. A bank roll of money, casion chips and a deck of cards are all optional. Dame Agatha Eiderdown - You are the aunt of Bertie Rooster, a ferocious and domineering women who can inspire fear in the bravest of men. Costume Suggestion - A long, dark evening gown with a string of pearls and a silk turban.
