The following is a short note from Dan and Joan:
Greetings from Dan & Joan of Ski For Life
To new friends and old,
Now that winter is upon us, it is time to think about winter recreation. Whether you’ve enjoyed a lesson outing with us in the past or were just thinking about it , we’d like you to keep us on your radar screen for the up-coming ski season. Yes, despite global warming, there will be skiable snow at some point and planning for an outing now will get you oriented towards an enjoyable half day or full day out on the trails with us.
We have acquired a few more sets of skating skis with accompanying Salomon boots and are excited about passing along either an introduction of this exciting skiing style to you or polishing your technique a bit. This will not replace the main focus of our sessions which is the fostering of the basic skills of classic skiing so that you can head out to the local conservation areas or to the upscale commercial centres like Hardwood Hills or Horseshoe with renewed confidence.
We’ve chosen three comfortable, easy to reach localities for our lessons this year, all with groomed & track set trails. Here, in Southern Ontario, within an easy drive of the Guelph, K-W, and GTA regions, Laurel Creek Conservation Area is home for some already scheduled Saturday sessions and as a base for any weekday outings you request of us.
Many of you in the past, and some who couldn’t quite co-ordinate attending a session last winter, will be interested in our two Muskoka locations, KOA Nordic Centre in Gravenhurst which is just 90 minutes from the junction of 401 and 400, and our traditional Huntsville location, the Tulip Inn, immediately adjacent to the great trails at Arrowhead Park. At both these locations, we have packages setup for you with accommodation partners or you can simply make it a day trip. See the website “events” for dates.
Remember that regardless of the date & location you choose, we need to have SNOW to make it a go so keep a backup date in mind. Also, no group is too small, even if it is just you and your signicant other (even if you have to drag him/her along)! We want to hear from you about the type of outing that interests you and, yes, we think we have something new to offer to our “old” lesson clients. Again, go to our website www.skiforlife.net for specific dates, times, etc. and also give us a call at 519-842-4652 to talk about skiing.
Think snow, Dan & Joan
