A Taste Of His Own Medicine

Revenge, fear and greed stalk the corridors of Headline Hall in the summer of 1947, as six people gather to hear Michael "Monty" Montague announce his plans for Montague Enterprises.  One of the six murders Monty by poison, but was the poison meant for someone else . . . ?

Michael (Monty) Montague, Meglomoniac Magnate is found dead in bed.  An empty cocoa mug lay next to a bottle of his unual sleeping draught.

Only one person among those assembled for the evening's conference knew the real financial state of his crumbling newspaper empire, but all had something to gain from Monty's death.

Dr. Jock McClew, the detective in charge of the case, has worked out the identity of the murderer.  He has recorded some pieces of information that will help you in your hunt for the murderer, so remember to heed his warnings well!

The suspects are:

Leonora Lacey-Draws - Leonora first knew Michael Montague (Monty) some 20 years ago, (when she was his mistress for some time), so is not in the first flush of youth. She is, however, very glamourous and still attractive. A sophisticated woman of the world, she reappeared in Monty's life just after his wife's suicide three years previously, and he was glad to take her in to comfort his declining years. Leonora has her own room at Headline Hall, where she lives on weekends. During the week, she lives in London, where she has a small business importing glamourous underwear from America.
Costume Suggestion - A seductive style of dress to show off her figure, with sparkling earrings to arrest attention.

Marie Mee - Slight, pretty and bouncy, Marie is an actress. She is in love with Hurry and hopes to marry him. She was devoted to Monty who treated her like a granddaughter. She lives in London, in a rather Bohemian room in Bloomsburry.
Costume Suggestion - Layers of fine material that swirl around her, usually with a long chiffon scarf to drape round her neck.

Colum Inches - Colum worked for Monty before the war and came back a hero afterwards, whereupon he was made editor-in-chief of Montague Enterprises. Tall, handsome, and with an air of mystery, people have remarked how he has changed since fighting Rommel in the desert. Something of an intellectual, he is very good at his job. He lives in Hampstead.
Costume Suggestion - Smartly casual, Colum is the first to slip into some of his favourite old clothes after the office.

Harry Montague - Hurry, as he is better known, was adopted when it became clear that Monty and his wife were never going to have children. He arrived as a newborn, always had everything that money could buy, and has been groomed to play a large part in Montague Enterprises. He now works quite diligently, managing a part of the newspaper empire. Suave and good looking, he divides his time between Headline Hall and a pied-a-terre in London.
Costume Suggestion - Rather a debonair dresser, Hurry contrives to wear a tie that matches the colour of his eyes.

May B. Gudasgold - She is Monty's late wife's half-sister. Although there was a considerable difference in their ages, she and her half-sister, Gonna-Glory, were very attached to each other and Gonna-Glory arranged for May to have an apartment at Headline Hall. This she retains, even though it is now three years since Gonna-Glory's tragic suicide. She was found dead from an overdose of sleeping pills. May has a fond relationship with Monty. She works in a law office in a nearby town. She is dainty, demure, and easily upset.
Costume Suggestion - Muted colours are May's preference for blending in with a crowd, yet she likes the current post-war fashion for full skirts.

Luc Du Mifor-Elp - Luc is French, and has mastered various forms of alternative medicine. At the behest of Monty he lives in the village, and has been treating him with herbs, and so on, for various minor ailments. Monty had come to rely on him and trusts him absolutely. Charmingly French.
Costume Suggestion - Luc keeps to a continental dressing style, often seen wearing an elegant cravat.
