It is fiesta night in the little village of Adios, Mexico and a group of party revelers are gathered on the outdoor patio at the Hasta La Vista Cantina. In the darkness and noisy confusion of a fireworks display, Senora Margartia Spencer is fatally stabbed with a small dagger. Recently widowed, the beautiful and charismatic Margarita had returned to the village of her birth to invest her multi-million dollar inheritance and develop Adios into a world class travel resort. Not everyone was excited about Margartia's return. One of the guests at the cantina had murder in mind!

The suspects are:

Don Juan Diablo - A wealthy and powerful landowner, Don Diablo's approval is always sought before decisions are made in the village. Although he presents himself as an honest businessman, it has long been suspected Don Diablo is leader of the Los Hombres, the notorious gang of bandidos who terrorize Adios and the surrounding villages.
Costume Suggestion - Black pants, shirt and vest with silver adornments, a sombrero and highly polished boots. Bodyguard optional.

Senorita Bonita - Margartia's fiery-tempered little sister who was left to fend for herself when Margarita ran away from the village three years earlier. Now, at the age of twenty-one, pretty Bonita has learned how to get what she wants. But her stunningly beautiful sister has returned and once again Margarita is stealing the limelight... along with Bonitas fiancee.
Costume Suggestion - Brightly coloured dress to celebrate fiesta. Lots of gaudy jewlry and a pair of castanets.

Warren Peace - An American writer, who came to Adios two years ago searching for a lost love and the inspiration to finish his latest novel. He hasn't found either... until now. Even though he is engaged to be married to Bonita, he will never get over his passion for Margarita... the woman who came to him like a vision then disappeared without even saying goodbye.
Costume Suggestion - Casual white pants and shirt, badly worn shoes with no socks. Sweat-stained hat and a partially finished manuscript. Old typewriter optional.

Kay Pasa - Kay is a freelance photographer whose award-winning photographs have appeared in Life, Time, and Newsweek. She says she came to Adios on a photoshoot to capture the essence of the quaint little village, But lately, her focus has been on making trouble for Margarita. The villagers are asking, "What is the matter, Kay Pasa?"
Costume Suggestion - Light khaki clothing, hiking boots, an assortment of cameras and photography equipment.

Rusty Pick - Rusty is a touch old prospector more at home in the hills with his trusty mule, Montezuma, than mingling with other folks. Rusty has spent years prospecting for gold and silver in the Mexican badlands. He thought he struck it rich too, until Margarita double-crossed him. He's sworn revenge against the back-stabbing senora ever since.
Costume Suggestion - Weather-beaten look. Dusty poncho, boots, old sombrero and prospecting tools. Montezuma the mule is optional.

Xochitl ('Desert Flower') - An Aztec Indian maiden, Xochitl (pronounced So-chee-til), also known as Desert Flower, is a medicine woman and spiritual healer. It is said she has the ability to converse with the spirits of her ancestors and she claims the ancient ones are upset that Margarita's resort development will destroy their eternal peace.
Costume Suggestion - Aztec Indian dress, jade jewelry, moccasins, collection of herbs and medicines in leather bag worn around her neck.

Sergeant Honesto Seguro - Sergeant Seguro, an officer of the Federales, is in charge of the tiny Adios police station. It is Honesto's job to provide protection for the villagers. The sergeant loves to eat, drink and be jolly. Although his clothing has grown somewhat tight due to his overindulgence, Honesto has a sharp mind and a keen eye when it comes to solving crimes.
Costume Suggestion - Tight-fitting police uniform, handcuffs and a lunch pail filled with junk food.

Windy Skies - Windy Skies is a hot-air balloonist who just happened to land on the outskirts of Adios when her balloon heater broke down. She is a contestant in a hot-air balloon rally from New England to Mexico City. With her outgoing personality and spirit of adventure, she has been having a great time at the fiesta.
Costume Suggestion - Aviator's jacket, leather helmet and goggles. Hot-air balloon optional.
