A Cajun Killing It is August, 1905 and you are drifting along the mighty Mississippi onboard a luxury paddlewheeler. The exquisite staterooms, all-night casinos and lively burlesque shows make the steamboat an exciting place to be. The fun ends abruptly when passenger Benton Thorne IV, a wealthy Louisiana plantation owner, is murdered. He is fatally stabbed at midnight on the third day streaming out of New Orleans, after struggling in his upper-deck stateroom with an unknown assailant. Mr.Thorne was traveling on vacation with his gorgeous wide, Rose, when the tragedy occurred. Over the past two decades, Benton Thorne IV has allowed nothing to stand in this way as he created his multi-million dollar cotton empire. Thorne's ruthless mission to rebuild his family's estate back to its original grandeur has left a trail of bitter enemies and broken hearts. Now that he is dead, you are called to Captain's Table and you are a suspect. The suspects are: Captain Jacques LeBad (Cap'n Jack) - You are the Magnolia Queen's iron-willed skipper. You learned your trade in the muddy rivers of the Louisiana bayou and over the years have faced your share of river pirates. You run a clean, well-ordered boat and you're not going to tolerate cold-blooded murder. Costume Suggestion - You wear a captain's uniform and cap with pride. It is neatly pressed and complete with shiny gold buttons and a gold watch chain. Your black boots are always polished to a bright shine. Candy Barr - You are the burlesque queen of New Orleans' infamous French Quarter. Your provocative stage shows and outrageous bawdy songs are the rage along the Mississippi River. You are bold and brassy and go after what you want. It is no secret that you were hoping to be Thorne's little sugar. Costume Suggestion - You prefer to wear scanty outfits with tights and high-heeled boots. Your heavy makeup, long, dark eyelashes and overpowering perfume drives the 'stage door Johnnys' wild. Marty Graw - You are a smooth-talking, handsome river gambler and business entrepreneur. There is no poker stake too high or business deal to risky for your taste. Women and gambling are your favourite pastimes and you pursue both with equal passion. Costume Suggestion - You favour a black suit, white shirt with black tie and black high-heeled boots. Your shirt is embellished with lace and covered by a gaudy birght-coloured vest with gold or pearl buttons. You wear diamond rings on your fingers and a fashionable top hat. Rose Thorne - You are Benton's grieving young widow, a beautiful southern belle and lady of good breeding. You are accustomed to being waited on by a mansion full of servants. You convinced your husband to take this romantic holiday on the Magnolia Queen. Now that he is dead, you have no idea what you will do with all his land and money. Costume Suggestion - In respect for your late husband, you are dressed all in black. You wear a floor length gown, and a hat with a veil over your face. You are carrying a purse filled with silk handkerchiefs for wiping away all those tears. Ragtime Joe - You are a piano player from Bourbon Street in N'walins. Nobody can 'tickle the ivories' like you. Your ragtime tunes surely do make people get up and dance. From dusk to dawn you play the piano and from dawn to dusk you dream about owning your own plantation. Costume Suggestion - Your standard wardrobe is a white suit, hat and shoes with dark glasses. You part your hair in the middle. You are often seen chewing a match stick and tapping your fingers to your own kind of beat. Allie Gater - You are an attractive young lady disguised as a scruffy dock boy. You stowed away on board the Magnolia Queen to catch a ride to your home in Natchez, Mississippi. You brought along a small canvas bag of personal belongings and a pocket full of troubles. Costume Suggestion - You wear rough trousers a few inches too short, suspenders, a torn cotton shirt and cover your long hair with a tattered cap. You wear old boots but no socks and carry a canvas bag filled with your belongings.
